This Is Where
this is where you
disappear
that's what this place
says
while forming
that polarioid
in your skull
the faded one
in the junk drawer
you turn left
and it's right smack dab
in front of you
no more houses
and no outlet either
they fly little fake airplanes
here sometimes
a place for litter
to blow by
other times
nothing but good old-fashioned
disappearances
he disappears
she disappears
it disappears
always something
going
away
and up the sidewalk
houses
people might be living in
who knows?
and by the mailbox
next to a trashcan
a busted artificial
xmas tree
shoved into a lavender
plastic laundry-basket
so evergreen
it is navy blue
and maybe a dukes
of hazard action-figure
in there too
some nasty old washrags
an old tylenol bottle
whispering
remember when
scott baio
was on the cover of people magazine?
in the end
ghosts build their own
nests
and lives figure things out
once they stop
being lived
this is where
you are now
walking around
kind of okay
a little sweaty but
okay
this is where you live
